Warranty
Every D-Flector Stone Guard® is covered by a three-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. It is the longest warranty in the stone guard category, and it is backed by the people who make the product in Moorabbin, Melbourne.
What the warranty covers
D-Flector Stone Guards® are warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for three years from the date of purchase. If your guard fails because of a manufacturing defect, even after extended use, we will repair it without charge, replace it, or refund the purchase price, at our choice. The warranty is non-transferable and applies to guards bought from d-flector.com.au or an authorised D-Flector stockist.
What it does not cover
A stone guard works by taking hits that would otherwise land on your van, boat or jet ski. Marks on the mesh and frame are the product doing its job, not a defect. The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear, including fading, surface scuffs, scratches, stone marks on the mesh or frame, and the natural breakdown of materials over extended time and use.
- Damage caused by accident or impact, including hitting an object, a kerb, a tow vehicle or another trailer.
- Damage caused by incorrect fitment: U-bolts not torqued, a guard fitted outside the drawbar and chassis sizes in the fitment guide, a guard that contacts the tow vehicle when cornering, or a guard fitted without the clearance the fitment guide requires.
- Modifications of any kind, including drilling, welding, cutting, repainting, or fitting non-genuine covers, U-bolts or brackets.
- Improper care or negligence, including towing with loose bungees or an unsecured cover, storing the guard where it can be crushed, or leaving salt, mud or chemicals on the frame.
- Consumables sold separately: bungee cords, hook-and-loop straps and reflectors.
- Products not bought new from D-Flector or an authorised stockist, or products without a genuine D-Flector label.
How to make a warranty claim
Warranty claims are assessed by our team in Moorabbin. Please follow these steps in order. A claim that skips a step will be sent back to that step.
- Keep the guard fitted and do not modify or repair it. We need to see the fault as it is. Removing the guard, straightening a frame or patching the mesh before we have assessed it may void the claim.
- Call 1300 062 343 (Monday to Friday, business hours, AEST) and ask for a warranty assessment. Have ready: your order number or the stockist's invoice, the date of purchase, the model (for example D500 or DSG003), and a short description of what has happened and when.
- Send what we ask for by email. After the call we will give you a reference and ask you to email warranty@d-flector.com.au with: your proof of purchase, a photo of the genuine D-Flector label on the guard, clear photos of the fault from at least two angles, a photo of the whole guard as fitted to the trailer, and your postcode. Claims without proof of purchase cannot be assessed.
- Assessment. Most claims are decided from the photos within five business days. Where we cannot decide from photos, we will ask you to return the guard or the affected part to Moorabbin for inspection. You pay the cost of getting the product to us for assessment; if a defect is confirmed we refund that cost and pay the freight on anything we repair or replace.
- Outcome. If the fault is a defect in materials or workmanship we repair, replace or refund at our choice and tell you which. If it is not covered we tell you why, and we can quote a replacement cover, bungee pack or part at the spare-parts price.
No warranty form is needed. Your proof of purchase is your warranty registration, so keep your invoice.
